This page explains exactly how to remove your data from Sticky Habits, what we delete, when it actually happens, and what you can do to keep your personal data safe in the meantime. It expands on Section 5 of our Privacy Policy.
1. Delete your account from inside the app
The fastest way to permanently delete your account and all associated data:
- Sign in to Sticky Habits at sticky-habits.app/login.
- Open the hamburger menu (top right) and go to Settings.
- Scroll to Your data.
- Tap Delete account, type
DELETEto confirm, then tap the red button.
You can’t recover an account after this. There is no “trash” or grace period — deletion happens immediately on confirm.
2. Export your data first (optional)
If you want a copy of everything before you delete, use Settings → Your data → Export my data. You’ll get a single JSON file containing your habits, daily logs, habit entries, and profile. Screenshots and shareable images are referenced by path; if you need the actual image files too, contact us and we’ll bundle them for you.
3. What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we permanently remove:
- Your authentication record (email, password hash if applicable, Google OAuth identifier)
- Your profile row (subscription tier, notification preferences, timezone)
- Every habit you created and its full configuration
- Every daily log row, every habit entry, every streak snapshot
- All daily foundation screenshots and any extra tracker screenshots
- All generated composite/shareable images
- Push-notification subscriptions tied to your account
- Any proof images temporarily uploaded (these are normally deleted within seconds of logging anyway)
Operational metadata that’s not tied to your identity — aggregate server logs, anonymous page-view counts in Vercel Analytics, Web Vitals samples — isn’t personally tied to you and isn’t individually retrievable, so there is nothing to delete there.
4. Timeline
Database rows and storage files are removed within seconds of you confirming the deletion. Backup retention at our hosting providers (Supabase, Vercel) follows their standard policies — typically within 30 days the data has rolled out of all backups too. After that point there is no copy of your data on any system we control.
5. Can't sign in? Email us
If you’ve lost access to the email account you signed up with and can’t complete the in-app flow, send a message from any address to stickyhabits.tz@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my Sticky Habits account”. Include the email you originally used and we’ll verify and delete on your behalf within a few business days.
6. Personal-data privacy best practices
A few habits that keep your personal data safer everywhere — not just on Sticky Habits:
- Use a strong, unique password.A password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Apple/Google built-in) is worth more than any privacy policy. If you signed up via Google, the security of your Sticky Habits account is the security of that Google account — protect it with 2FA.
- Turn on 2-factor authentication on the email or social account you used to sign up here. That account is the keys to this one.
- Review connected apps periodically.Google lists every app that has been granted access to your account. Revoke anything you’re no longer using — including us, if Sticky Habits stops being useful for you.
- Be deliberate about screenshots. When you upload a foundation screenshot, our OCR runs locally in your browser — we don’t see the image. But the screenshot itself is stored in your private bucket. If your screenshot contains personal information you don’t want stored anywhere, crop or redact it before uploading.
- Keep your devices updated. Most account compromises happen at the device level, not at the app level. OS updates fix real security holes.
- Use unique emails per service when you can.Apple’s “Hide My Email”, Firefox Relay, and Gmail’s plus-addressing (
you+stickyhabits@gmail.com) all let you give each service its own address. Make breach blast-radius smaller. - Export your data before deleting. If you ever come back, you can’t re-import — but you’ll at least have a record of what you built.
We treat your data with care, but the strongest privacy protection is layered: good habits on your side + minimal data collection on ours + RLS + encryption at rest.
